“What are you up to these days?” (What is this?)

W3 June 2022:
  • My sister just celebrated her birthday, summer solstice, and planetary alignment on the eastern horizon, last seen in 2004!
  • Four half-started books (yeah I know, again): Senlin Ascends, Hopscotch, Max Havelaar, the Perfect Assassin. I am very close to the end of Max Havelaar, also very close to just call it quits.
  • I've been giving up on more books that I don't quite feel like it: Daughter of the Moon Goddess; She Who Became the Sun; Harrow the Ninth; Queer, There and Everywhere; Firekeeper's Daughter. I checked out Saeed Jones' memoir but it's increasingly unlikely I actually started it.
  • I've brought all skills in my Duolingo Dutch tree up to level 2, but they've taken away the badge that shows how many times you've completed a tree. The new tree in beta looks too gamified--I don't like it.
  • My G-d it's already June.

W2 Dec 2021:
  • I am reading a very new book (Immune, written by Kurzgesagt's creator) and a 25-year old book (Bisexual Politics, published 1995).
  • I just finished with my last EC101 sections this week, so all that's left is proctoring the exam next week.
  • Still couldn't manage to put in more time for the remittance project, justru KB-nya gagal dan bertelorlah satu proposal tentang jamsos (plus keroyokan satu proposal pendidikan antikorupsi).
  • I presented the village law project plan before TKPIPA BRIN - Tim Koordinasi Pemberian Izin Peneliti Asing. I didn't know what to expect.
  • Met people: Ekky Gompa; Dylan main ke rumah; main ke rumah Ken; César dan Lee-Ann main ke rumah.
  • Finished the birding puzzle--no help from Boy of course.
  • We are suffering because the laundry machine in the building is broken (again).

W3 Nov 2021:
  • I have been devouring Alice Oseman's works--and I am a little embarrassed to admit it because these are basically bocah SMP-SMA. But now I symphatize better with people into Milea-Dilan. I checked out Sarah Becan's graphic cookbooks for the **visual**.
  • Done with the puzzle, Duolingo streak hit 365 days, the vet praised Boy's weight loss (5 lbs gone, 2 lbs to go!)
  • Nurul and Eki came through in helping me access various archives for the madrasah paper revision--Dunno what I would have done without them. I used a microfiche reader for the first time last week. I have been spending a lot of time on it ahead of Ben's CEPR conference talk.
  • I need to spend more time on the remittance project.
  • Met people: Ken, Jihae, Bryan; Dylan, Thito, Matthew; Gavin; Pandu in Sydney; Jay; Daniela; George; Windy and the HKS peeps; Adi.
  • Very excited for the Thanksgiving break (and fairly certain I'd need to resist working during the break).

W1 Nov 2021:
  •  I have five unfinished books that I am reading: Pinker's Sense of Style; Norman Erikson Pasaribu, and several others.
  • I am spending a lot of my research time on the madrasah paper revision--pulling details out of Aisy's field notes.
  • I am also spending a lot of time for the EC101 class I'm teaching. Midterm is on Friday.
  • Other research projects I am spending time on: remittances, SMK, village law, school management, pension, with minimum amount on IPDN and Bagirata. I should spend more time on my remittances paper.
  • I finally started the North American birds 1000-piece puzzle set, because I have been feeling burnt out.
  • Freida's cat tree arrived this week and Boy has been hiding in it.
  • My Duolingo streak will hit 365 day soon.
